Key facts:
British American Tobacco Romania began its operations in Ploiesti in 1997. In the first few years, Ploiesti factory supplied the domestic market, but now more than half of production made in Ploiesti is export production mainly for European Union markets.
- Production volumes increased each year up to more then 20 billion cigarettes per year. It is one of the largest plants in Western Europe and it is characterized by a medium complexity of production within the BAT Group. Many cigarettes formats, filters types and tobacco blends are manufactured here. More than 500 products are produced each year in this plant.
- There are nearly 500 people employed excluding a number of subcontractors, working into a continuous running pattern 24/7. Very good levels of English speaking at all levels in the organization allow easy integration.
- The factory is located in Ploiesti, close to Bucharest, Romania's capital. Only 40Km for the international airport Henry Coanda, and in the main industrialized region of Romania. Ploiesti is one of the biggest cities in Romania with ~300.000 inhabitants, a place where many other multinational companies have production activities. (Coca-Cola, Inbev, P&G, Unilever, Yazaki, Calsonic Kansei, Timken, Cameron,...).
